- James I. Morton
There passed away at the Victoria General Hospital, yesterday, James I. Morton, son of the late F.W. Morton and Mrs. Morton of New Germany. Born at New Germany fifty years ago, the late Mr. Morton was associated with his father in business for some time. Leaving this, he attended Acadia University until 1915 when he enlisted for service overseas. Going to France he was twice wounded. He was invalided home in 1918. His wife, formerly Miss Gertrude M. Settle, predeceased him four years ago. Mr. Morton conducted a grocery business in Halifax for some time but retired on account of ill health. For the past four years he has made his home at the residence of Mrs. James Harrison, Woodlawn. He is survived by four sisters, Mrs. P.M. Chesley, Portland, Maine; Mrs. H.S. Barss, New Boston, New Hampshire; Mrs. P.W. MacDermott, Winsconsin, Vermont; and Mrs. Frank Settle, Woodlawn; and one brother, Fred W. Morton of Springfield, Massachusetts. The late Mr. Morton was a member of Woodlawn United Church and took a keen interest in all its activities. The funeral will take place on Monday afternoon at 2:30 from the residence of J.R. Harrison. Interment will be in Woodlawn.
